AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY
There are three methods of aerial photography: From a HELICOPTER, from a FIXED-WING AEROPLANE or from a 15m AERIAL MAST. Whilst helicopters are the most expensive option, they can be hovered in exactly the right position. Sometimes they offer the option of lower-level photography if there is suitable landing site very near the site to be photographed, as photographs can be taken during take-off and landing, thus avoiding contravening the low-flying laws. Fixed-wing aeroplanes are a cheaper option, but as they can't be hovered, the photographs have to be taken from a moving plane as it orbits the site, thus making the camera positioning less accurate. The third option is remote-control photography from a ground-based 15m aerial mast. This option is perfect for low-level aerial photography where it would be illegal to fly any aircraft. As well as being significantly cheaper than the two airborne options, the results can be more dramatic as the photographs are taken at a more oblique angle. There are limiting factors with all three methods (weather, airspace, low-flying laws over built-up areas, and local planning restrictions for erecting ground-based masts), so please give me a call if you wish to discuss them further.
