Leicester-based coach hire company Woods Coaches were in the process of updating their website and they asked me to produce a promotional business video and some still photos for them.
They wanted a video to highlight all aspects of their business, from their welcoming front-office reception staff, to their friendly drivers and to their efficient team of mechanics who maintain their fleet of coaches. It was important to show all the personal touches and how their staff really take a pride in their work by taking care of their passengers from the time their book until the time their trip ends. Woods Coaches didn’t want to appear like a large and faceless corporate company as it is a well-established local Leicestershire business that is loved by its customers. For that reason, it was decided not to hire a professional voiceover artist with a bland (or even posh!) accent for their short film. Instead, we used their transport manager who has a fairly strong Leicester accent which was perfect to represent the fiercely proud Leicester company as it was felt their typical customers would relate well to it.
Once I had recorded the voiceover, I then had to film all the video footage to illustrate everything that was being described in the voiceover. As this was quite involved, the shoot was spread out over several days. There was of-course lots of technical filming to do in order to show the facilities and specifications of the different types of coach in their fleet. This was done at their depot, but we also did some fleet and individual coach shots at a stately home (Stanford Hall) which gave a very picturesque background. Then there were shots of a customer and receptionist, the transport manager in his office and the mechanics working on a coach. I then took some shots of customers being collected for a trip to London, showing how friendly their drivers are and also some sots of their coaches being driven around various well-known parts of Leicester. Finally, I took some scenic shots of one of their executive coaches out in the beautiful Leicestershire countryside – one of which was taken from the back of a moving minibus with it’s tailgate open!
Being able to do both stills photography and videography made it easy for Woods to deal with just one company, rather than two and it saved them cash too! They were delighted with the finished photos and video. I hope you agree that this video shows their company in a good light.
